Every one has to make millions of choices in their life. Every day people have to make a tough choice. What is important though is that the consequences of this choice are understood. Consequences often alter the way that people look at things. When pursuing a dream the consequences should always be considered.
In the book The Great Gatsby, Gatsby doesn't consider the consequences of his actions when he decides to stay in West Egg after the death of Myrtle. Nick tries to convince him to leave the city, but he is too focused on following his dream to get with Daisy that he ignores the danger. Gatsby doesn't dispose of his car that hit Myrtle, so George Wilson assumes Gatsby killed her. This ultimately leads to Gatsby's death, and the destruction of his dream. If Gatsby had understood the consequences of staying, and listened to Nick he could have left the city, and still been able to obtain his dream. This might have increased the time it took to achieve his dream, but would not have spoiled it. Gatsby's dream is spoiled because of the fact that he didn't consider the consequences.
Consequences figure a lot into pursuing ones dream, and can ultimately ruin the dream if they are not considered. It is very important to take them into account. This will not spoil the dream. The dream will only be spoiled if they are not considered.
